Marine Band at Staff Christmas Party

This photograph by Joseph J. Scherschel is of the employee Christmas party at the White House in December 1965, during the Lyndon B. Johnson administration. Spread through much of the state floor of the building, including the State Dining Room, the party featured food, dancing and live music, including by the United States Marine Band as depicted here. The band, under the direction of Col. Dale L. Harpham, performed in the Entrance Hall.
